A Premier League star once had his payslip leaked while playing for Arsenal, and it shows exactly how much some of the top players in England earn.

It’s no secret that footballers players representing a top club across Europe and abroad are some of the highest paid athletes in the world.

The exact figures of player salaries in Europe aren’t always known as they are typically hidden by the club, but some leagues like the MLS in America decide to make the official numbers public for fans to see.

But one former Arsenal star allegedly had his salary leaked during his best season at the club back in 2019.

Midfielder Alex Iwobi joined Arsenal while he was still at primary school back in 2004, and went on to make his senior debut for the North London outfit in October 2015.

The Nigerian enjoyed his best season at Arsenal in 2018/19, playing 51 matches across all competitions and scoring six goals.

However, things weren’t all good for Iwobi in 2019, as in Janaury his payslip that shows his financial earnings for the month leaked online.

Two seperate documents detailing the midfielder’s earning were shared online, his ‘Match Bonuses’ sheet and his ‘AFC Monthly Players Payroll’.

His payroll sheet revealed he took home a monthly earning of £258,000, which works out at a weekly wage of around £60,000.

The leak also showed he bagged £33,250 in bonuses following Arsenal’s Premier League victories over Burnley, Fulham and Chelsea and their win over Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Shortly after the leak, Iwobi secured a move to fellow Premier League side Everton in a deal believed to be worth £34million, with his salary reported to see him taking home £70,000-per-week.

The Nigerian spent four years at the Merseyside club, making 123 league appearances, before joining current Fulham in a deal worth up to £22m.

Iwobi’s move back to London is believed to have led to him receiving another pay rise as, according to Capology, he currently earns £80,000-per-week while playing for the Cottagers.

Across all competitions this season, Iwobi has made 37 appearances for Fulham, scoring seven goals.
