Be careful what you wish for…

Despite clamors from the fans, Bayern Munich coldly decided that Thomas Müller’s journey with the club ends this year. He won’t play for another Bundesliga club, and he hasn’t committed to a move outside of Germany (MLS). So, how’s about a post-playing career with his boyhood club?

“We have a great relationship with Thomas,” Bayern director of sport Max Eberl said (Sport1-Doppelpass via @iMiaSanMia). “He should stay, whatever he wants to do. If he’s my boss at some point, he might fire me [laughs]. He will do something at FC Bayern at some point, that’s just how it is with Thomas.”

The 35-year-old Müller still wants to play, but there’s still no decision of a retirement or a new chapter at a different club. But one thing is for sure and that he exudes class. “Thomas lives for FC Bayern like no other,” Eberl declared. “He’s a person of integrity. There was disappointment, and there was also frustration. It certainly wasn’t pleasant. The fact that things went so well has a lot to do with Thomas, but also with us, who tried to resolve it as best we could.

“Thomas is Bayern. The club is above everything else for him,” the 52-year-old continued. “Thomas is a fighter and has this instinct that he simply got from here in the Bavarian region. I used to watch him from the outside and now had the pleasure to work with him for 13 months. Throughout his career, he always had to prove himself. But he is simply incomparable.”
