‘My information’: Fabrizio Romano shares ‘important’ update about Jadon Sancho’s Chelsea and Man United future

4 Min Read

By all accounts, it’s currently unclear if Chelsea will activate their option to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on a permanent deal this summer.

Sancho has made 31 appearances on loan for Chelsea this season providing seven assists and two goals, but Enzo Maresca hasn’t shied away from critiquing the England forward publicly.

Of course, Sancho’s struggles at Man United are very well documented by this point, a winger who was forced to find a move owing to his poor relationship with Erik ten Hag.

And whilst Chelsea have first option to sign the winger this summer, Borussia Dortmund are interested in Sancho – they’re keen to bring the Englishman back to the Bundesliga where he’s previously thrived.

In truth, Sancho’s future seems like it’s up in the air at the moment, but trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano has just shared an ‘important’ update in that regard.

Fabrizio Romano lifts the lid on Jadon Sancho’s future at Man United

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Sancho is unlikely to stay at United this summer even if Chelsea decide against signing him.

According to Romano, it would take a ‘crazy’ turnaround inspired by Ruben Amorim to change the situation, with Sancho very likely to depart Old Trafford.

Romano explained: “Let me clarify something on Jadon Sancho, I told you in recent weeks that Chelsea have an obligation to buy for a £25m package.

“So that’s an important part of the story, obligation to buy but with a clause worth £5m to basically send the player back to Manchester United in case they decide to not activate the option.

“But what I wanted to mention guys, is that my information on the recent stories about United is that even if Chelsea decide to send the player back to Old Trafford, the plan for Jadon Sancho and United is not to continue together.

“So the priority for Sancho is to stay at Chelsea – he still hopes to stay at Chelsea. In case Chelsea decide the opposite and send the player back to United, the current expectation is not for United and Sanch to continue together.

“It would take something absolutely crazy and completely driven by the coach, by Ruben Amorim, because the management already wanted to sell Sancho one year ago.”

Jadon Sancho could return to Borussia Dortmund

Previously Romano said Chelsea were happy to buy Sancho, however, it would seem as if that isn’t so certain anymore.

The 25-year-old has actually started Chelsea’s last five Premier League matches, but he perhaps hasn’t provided the end product that Maresca would have hoped for.

Either way, there might be a lot of Chelsea and United fans who are willing Sancho to return to Dortmund, where he’s always seemed most content.

On their part, Chelsea want to sign Nico Williams this summer and it would seem unwise for both him and Sancho to be competing on the left-wing.

And in terms of United’s plans, Amorim is hoping to sign several new players providing that funds can be raised from sales.
