Arsenal recently announced the arrival of Andrea Berta.
The Italian has filled the Sporting Director vacancy which Arsenal had been looking to sort ever since the shock resignation of Edu Gaspar back in November, and arrives with a glowing CV which includes the signings of Rodri and Antoine Griezmann for Atletico Madrid.
Berta is already chasing Nico Williams as one potential summer arrival – while Martin Zubimendi is expected to join Arsenal in a move from Real Sociedad.
However, there was a Sporting Director Arsenal wanted before Andrea Berta who now looks set to become available.
Luis Campos set to leave PSG after Arsenal links
A story by Football Transfers in February stated that Arsenal were pushing hard to hire Luis Campos – who has transformed PSG in recent years.
The Portuguese negotiator has ditched the policy of signing superstars such as Neymar in order to focus on hoovering up elite young talent, bringing the likes of Joao Neves, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the Parc des Princes instead.
This recruitment has helped Luis Enrique significantly – the Spaniard has been able to imprint his style on these players more effectively, with PSG already securing the Ligue 1 title and into the last eight of the UEFA Champions League.
Now, however – according to RMC Sport – Campos is likely to leave Paris this summer, after failing to agree a new contract with the French giants.

The French news outlet state that Enrique, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and also the passionate fanbase have urged the 60-year-old to stay, but all signs are now pointing to an exit.
Should that happen, Arsenal are no longer an option for Campos, with Berta already working closely alongside Mikel Arteta ahead of an important summer.
Luis Campos was unsure on move to England
TBR Football understand a move to England has never truly appealed to Campos regardless – so Arsenal may have struggled to convince him anyway.
Contrastingly, Berta seems very enthused by the role in north London, with the 53-year-old even spending time at London Colney to watch the players train, in order to garner a better assessment of the squad ahead of the summer.
