Report: Inter Milan now want to sign ‘brilliant’ Liverpool player who signed new contract just six months ago

3 Min Read

Liverpool are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window.

The Reds only brought in Federico Chiesa in Arne Slot’s first window in charge, and nobody was signed in January. That makes the summer really important.

The current focus is on sorting out the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, as Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Along with the England international right-back, a few others could leave Liverpool too before the start of next season.

Italian giants Inter Milan have their eye on one such Liverpool player.

Inter Milan interested in Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah

Jarell Quansah has had an interesting couple of years at Liverpool.

The young Englishman became a bit of a fan favourite after Jurgen Klopp gave him opportunities in his final season at the helm at Anfield.

Quansah produced a few excellent performances for the Reds then.

But, last summer, Liverpool were in talks to include Quansah in a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

No move materialised then and Quansah ended up signing a new contract in October – just over six months ago.

However, Quansah is still being linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, and Spazio Inter have now claimed that Inter Milan are interested in signing him.

The Serie A champions could part ways with Yan Bisseck this summer if a good offer arrives, and they will need a replacement if that happens.

Quansah is being eyed as that player, and the report claims that Liverpool are open to selling him for just over £17 million (€20m).

Should Liverpool sell Quansah?

Liverpool are expected to be on the market for defensive reinforcements this summer.

The Reds will need a new left-back, a new right-back and also an addition in the heart of their defence. Van Dijk isn’t getting any younger, while Ibrahima Konate has rejected a contract offer from Liverpool and is attracting interest.

Quansah has learnt from the best at the club and was even hailed as ‘outstanding‘ by Van Dijk just over a year ago. He definitely has the potential to become a star.

Unless Liverpool want to spend big money on a top-class centre-back this summer, we don’t see the need to sell Quansah, even though he hasn’t had the best of seasons.

However, it will be interesting to see what Slot will do once this season comes to an end.
