Report: Tottenham ready to give £50m star a new contract this summer on much improved terms

3 Min Read

Daniel Levy will be aware that Tottenham Hotspur have one or two contract situations to address as soon as possible.

As things stand all of Son Heung-min, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma will enter the final year of their Tottenham contract in the summer.

Fortunately, it’s already been revealed that Tottenham are ready to enter contract talks with Bentancur, a midfielder who has taken more responsibility under Ange Postecoglou this season.

And speaking of Postecoglou’s midfield, some will feel that a rebuild is needed this summer to some degree, if Spurs’ current incumbent is sticking around.

Aston Villa want Bissouma according to reports, and other than retaining their young gems in the middle, Tottenham fans would probably be open to change.

Tottenham planning Lucas Bergvall contract talks

Speaking of young superstars in midfield, Lucas Bergvall’s first season in N17 has been a real positive for Tottenham.

Bergvall has thrived in difficult circumstances and the prospect of the Sweden international playing alongside Archie Gray in the middle long-term is a very exciting one.

That being said, Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt are now reporting that Bergvall’s good form will result in a new contract.

The source revealed that Spurs now value Bergvall at £50m and they also shared that negotiations on a new and improved contract for the midfielder are being planned for the summer.

Bergvall’s current deal runs all the way until 2029 but Tottenham want to reward the youngster for his seriously impressive start in north London, a player who could be integral to their project for years to come.

In total the 19-year-old has made 40 appearances for Spurs in all competitions since arriving from Djurgarden in the summer, a tally even he might not have expected.

Luca Williams-Barnett is ready to follow in Lucas Bergvall’s footsteps

In terms of exciting youngsters in N17, it’s hard not to mention Luca Williams-Barnett, especially when considering Tottenham’s midfield long-term.

Williams-Barnett has been brilliant for Tottenham’s youth sides this season and has already scored an extraordinary amount of goals in a number 10 role.

Therefore, some Spurs fans with an eye on the academy might already be dreaming of a midfield that one day contains Gray, Bergvall and Williams-Barnett.

Of course, when you consider that Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore could also play ahead of that trio in attack, there’s still plenty of reason for optimism despite this difficult season.

Tottenham are still building a seriously talented crop of youngsters, and whether it’s under Posteocoglou’s guidance or not, they should promise a lot of success in the future.
