Liverpool are on course to win the Premier League this season, but there have been a few bumps in the road as of late.
Indeed, the mood has been dipping at Liverpool lately. The Reds lost big games to PSG and Newcastle recently, while Liverpool needed a controversial goal to beat Everton.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also lost to Fulham at the weekend.
Luckily, there has been a positive update this week as it sounds as though Virgil van Dijk is set to sign a new contract.
Speaking on It’s Called Soccer, Gary Neville has been discussing the Van Dijk update, and even he has admitted that this is great news for Liverpool.

Gary Neville reacts to ‘great’ Virgil van Dijk news
Neville spoke about the news that Van Dijk is set to sign a new contract.
The pundit said this is great news, noting that the Dutchman is the most important player of the three out-of-contract stars at Liverpool – Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Van Djik.
“That’s great news for Liverpool. I think he’s the most important out of the three, he’s the most important. The goalkeeper ad him are the bedrock of what they have achieved this season,” Neville said.
“Salah is amazing, Trent is fantastic, but Van Dijk is the most important I think. If he signs I think the pressure comes off Liverpool a bit in that they’ve not lost all three.”
What’s happening with Salah and Alexander-Arnold?
Van Dijk is set to sign a new deal, which, as Neville says, is amazing news for Liverpool.
However, there are still a couple of other issues bubbling under the surface at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, at the moment, are set to become free agents in the summer, and that is concerning to say the least.
There have been updates on Salah and Alexander-Arnold recently, and it would appear as though there’s going to be good news and bad news here.
Alexander-Arnold looks set to join Real Madrid in the summer, which is a serious blow for the Merseyside club.
However, Liverpool have faith in Conor Bradley’s ability to replace Alexander-Arnold.
As for Salah, the Egyptian’s contract talks are said to be going well, and while his future is up in the air, Liverpool could be set for a positive resolution on that front.
For now, Van Dijk’s situation appears to be the most secure, and he appears to be set to stay at Liverpool.
