On this day 20 years ago, Everton‘s Goodison Park home was the site of Premier League history, as an embryonic striker by the name of James Vaughan was introduced into the fray during a clash with Crystal Palace.

David Moyes‘s Toffees were cruising to victory over the Eagles on April 10, 2005, as now-Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta opened the scoring inside seven minutes, before a brace from Tim Cahill put Everton in cruise control.

Safe in the knowledge that the win was wrapped up, Moyes replaced Gary Naysmith with the teenage Vaughan for the final 15 minutes, and little did the Birmingham-born youngster know that he would break a Premier League record that has now stood for two decades.

In the 87th minute of the match, Kevin Kilbane surged into the left-hand side of the area and delivered a low cross into the six-yard box, where Vaughan got ahead of his marker and became the Premier League’s youngest-ever scorer at just 16 years and 271 days.

Vaughan’s career never quite hit the heights his record-breaking strike promised, but he cemented his place in English football folklore regardless, and here Sports Mole challenges you to name the 10 youngest Premier League scorers of all time on the anniversary of 20th anniversary of Vaughan’s golden goal.
