Nottingham Forest lineup vs. Everton: Predicted XI for must-win clash at the City Ground

2 Min Read

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo was tight-lipped about the status of three important first-team players ahead of their clash with Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi both missed the defeat at Aston Villa last weekend, while Anthony Elanga was forced off at half time, and the Forest manager did not give a definitive update on any of them ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

Wood sustained a hip injury on New Zealand duty last month, with a hamstring problem has kept Awoniyi out so far in April, meaning Callum Hudson-Odoi started up front at Villa Park.

If both remain out, the onus could lay at the feet of Morgan Gibbs-White to provide the spark for the hosts, and after scoring at Goodison earlier this season, if he can repeat the feat, it will see the 25-year-old hit his best Premier League tally in a Forest shirt.

An absence for Elanga could see Jota Silva rewarded with a well-deserved start though, because since his last Premier League start at the end of January, the Portuguese midfielder has scored three times in four sub appearances, including last weekend.

Full-back Ola Aina is also a huge doubt with the calf injury that kept him out against Villa, but after being ineligible to face his parent club, Alex Moreno will be available for selection again to fill the gap, after Morato looked slightly uncomfortable filling in at left-back a week ago.

Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Sels; Williams, Murillo, Milenkovic, Alex Moreno; Yates, Anderson; Dominguez, Gibbs-White, Jota Silva; Wood
