‘It’s all happening’: Ally McCoist reacts after hearing more Liverpool news after Salah signs new deal

Liverpool haven’t had the best of times in recent weeks.

Indeed, the Reds have lost to the likes of PSG, Newcastle and Fulham over the past few weeks, while they relied on a controversial goal to beat Everton in the Merseyside derby.

However, there has now been a huge boost at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah has now signed a new contract at Liverpool, and Salah is set to earn £400k-a-week with these new terms.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Ally McCoist has been discussing Salah’s new deal, while he’s also reacted to reports that Virgil van Dijk is set to sign a new contract soon too.

McCoist reacted alongside Dean Saunders after seeing the news about Salah and Van Dijk.

The pundit suggested that these deals guarantee more success for Liverpool in the coming years, while Dean Saunders labelled this as ‘great news’.

“It’s a two year deal to keep Salah at Anfield,” McCoist said.

“Fabrizio Romano is also reporting that Virgil van Dijk has signed a contract until 2027 also. It’s all happening Liverpool fans this morning.

“Does this guarantee even more success in the coming years? Perhaps it does.”

“It’s great news for every Liverpool fan out there, 30 goals again this season, unbelievable,” Dean Saunders added.

“Good news all round, we just need Van Dijk now,” Saunders said.

“I think Fabrizio Romano has just semi-broke that,” McCoist said.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s record together

Salah and Van Dijk will both be staying at Liverpool for the next two years, and that’s a huge boost for the Reds.

Make no mistake about it, Salah and Van Dijk are two of the Reds’ most important players, and Liverpool’s record when these two play together is remarkable.

Games 287
Wins 197
Draws 44
Losses 46
Win percentage 69%

Liverpool have a ridiculous win percentage when Salah and Van Dijk play together, and these two are about to become two-time Premier League champions at Anfield together.

Salah and Van Dijk aren’t necessarily a partnership due to the wildly differing positions they play, but, they are a key duo in this Liverpool team, and it sounds as though they will be here to stay for a little while longer.

As McCoist says, these contract updates could guarantee more success at Anfield in the coming years.
