What Salah said after Liverpool’s win v West Ham suggests Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit is confirmed – opinion

4 Min Read

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool fans the perfect present after signing a contract extension by assisting Luis Diaz’s opening goal against West Ham United with a wonderful pass with the outside of his boot.

But when Andy Robertson scored an own goal in the 86th minute, it seemed like Liverpool were set to drop points once again after their 3-2 defeat against Fulham.

However, Virgil van Dijk came to the rescue three minutes later with a bullet header to win Arne Slot’s side the game.

After Liverpool’s victory against West Ham, Mohamed Salah made a claim about Van Dijk’s future, which may have confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Anfield once and for all.

Mohamed Salah might have confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold exit after Liverpool v West Ham

Mohamed Salah did not even mention Alexander-Arnold when prompting Van Dijk to extend his contract after Liverpool beat West Ham.

Perhaps Salah made such a public declaration as he knows Van Dijk is about to sign a new contract but the same cannot be said about Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid.

Salah told Sky Sports: “I am glad we managed to do that [contract] before the end of the season. Hopefully, Virgil will be next.”

“He can do whatever he wants but I would love to play with him next season.”

Jude Bellingham advised Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid as Los Blancos are set to have their hands on arguably the best right-back in the world next season.

Salah’s contract extension is down to Arne Slot’s presence and his vision but Alexander-Arnold sees his future in the Spanish capital.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s plan for Liverpool fans before he joins Real Madrid

The West-Derby born defender is currently injured and he would be gutted not to be partaking for his boyhood club as he edge closer to winning the Premier League title.

But Alexander-Arnold will explain his exit to Liverpool fans before moving to Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano revealed: “I think it’s important to mention, and we will touch on that, that Trent will explain everything on this story, also to respect Liverpool fans at the right moment. But Real Madrid is Real Madrid, where Real Madrid is calling. This is not just about Trent

“He will speak to the fans. He will speak to people at the club and everything will be clear. So I think Trent will do his best to close this fantastic chapter he had at Liverpool in the best way possible because they won everything together

He’s a local boy from Liverpool, and so it’s a big opportunity also for him to say goodbye in the best way possible.”
