Arsenal have opened talks with Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres and are looking to tie-up an early deal for the Swedish international.
The Gunners’ new Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, has been a long-standing admirer of Gyökeres and he is now leading the pursuit of him.
Securing the services of a number nine is the priority for Arsenal in the summer window, and, although, in an ideal world, Alexsander Isak would be their preferred target, there is a growing realisation that he is likely to stay at St. James Park, especially if Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League gain.
Gyökeres has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, and a reunion with Rúben Amórim who he played under for the Portuguese club, But the player himself is thought to prefer a move to the Emirates, and his agent was at the Emirates recently for the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
