Arne Slot’s honest Premier League title admission shows humble side

Arne Slot is on the cusp of making history by winning the Premier League in his first season, but the Dutchman believes it may take a decade for him to truly feel like a Scouser.

As he prepares to potentially lift the title at Anfield, Slot has been touched by the affection shown by Liverpool‘s devoted fans, who are ready to welcome him as one of their own.

However, he acknowledges that it’s impossible to replicate the depth of feeling that comes with decades of loyalty and dedication, saying: “When you start to work here, then quite quickly you get a certain feeling.

“But it’s not true that I have the same feeling as someone who has been here forever. If I could feel that in just 10 months, it would be a bit weird when someone has stood on the Kop for many years and I’ve only stood on the touchline for one season.

“It’s impossible to become the same as the fans who have been here for 30 or 40 years. But the good thing about these fans is that they let you feel immediately what they feel. Does that make sense?

“The good thing about the people here is that they welcome you from the start and you feel part of them. But to say I am a Scouser now would be too much. Ask me after 10 years.”
