‘Best possible move’: Paul Merson says Arsenal will ‘win the league by 10 points’ if they sign £60m player

Arsenal are expected to have a big summer transfer window.

The Gunners are about to finish second in the Premier League for the third season in a row. Being the runners-up is not a bad achievement, but not winning a single title after challenging for three years is really frustrating.

Injuries and poor refereeing decisions have cost Arsenal this season, but the biggest problem in many people’s eyes is their lack of a prolific striker.

Andrea Berta has arrived as the sporting director, and everyone is expecting him to bring in a top-class number nine once the summer transfer window opens.

Paul Merson has a suggestion for Arsenal.

Paul Merson says the ‘best possible move’ for Alexander Isak is Arsenal

Alexander Isak is the best striker in the world right now.

The Newcastle United star has had an unbelievable campaign in the Premier League, and almost every club in the country would love to sign him.

The Magpies, however, are desperate to keep hold of their star striker and are set to demand an absolute fortune from any club that makes an attempt this summer.

Arsenal have been linked with Isak for a long, long time, but the Gunners’ chances of getting him look really slim, as things stand.

But, Merson has claimed that the ‘best possible move’ for Isak if he leaves Newcastle United this summer would be the Emirates.

He wrote on Sportskeeda: “Newcastle could be playing Champions League football next season and have already tasted silverware. Let’s not forget that they are a big club and if they qualify for the Champions League, they are an attractive project to be a part of for any player.

“I think Isak surely wants to be involved in the Champions League next season and that could play a key role here.

“Arsenal seem like the best possible move for him if he leaves Newcastle though. If the Gunners get him, they will win the league by 10 points!”

Newcastle may have a strong chance of keeping Isak for one reason

Isak’s future will be an interesting watch this summer.

The Swede, who joined Newcastle for £60 million in 2022 (BBC), will definitely have suitors if he decides to leave. Arsenal would love to get him, and TBR can reveal that Liverpool are confident that they can convince Isak to sign for them.

But, Eddie Howe’s side have found themselves in a great position to keep their star man.

Following their win over Ipswich Town on Saturday, Newcastle climbed up to third in the table with just four games left to be played.

Champions League qualification is in their hands, and if they get there, there is every chance that they can convince Isak to give them another year.
