Liverpool are about to win the Premier League.
The Reds have been the best team in the country this season, and they will deservedly be crowned as the champions, most likely against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Arne Slot deserves all the praise in the world, as do many of his players. A number of them have stepped up and produced incredible performances throughout the campaign.
But, one player has now come under criticism for not living up to all the hype at Anfield.
Liverpool star Federico Chiesa named as one of the flops of the season
Federico Chiesa joined Liverpool last summer in what many viewed as a bargain signing.
The Italian cost an initial fee of just £10 million, which is almost nothing in today’s market. Many people thought that he would have a good impact, even though he was always just going to be a backup.
Chiesa’s professionalism was hailed as ‘unbelievable‘ when he trained with the U21s at Liverpool early in the season to build up his fitness after his injury.
But, even after he reached full fitness, the former Juventus man didn’t get many opportunities in the first team under Slot.
Shaka Hislop expected more from Chiesa this term, so he believes that the Liverpool attacker’s name should be in the ‘flops of the season’ list.
He said on ESPN FC: “For me, one omission (in Ian Darke’s Flops of the Season list) is Federico Chiesa.
“While he arrived at Liverpool injured – alright, Liverpool will win the title – but I don’t see how the season he has had warrants him not being on this list. He should be in it.”

Julien Laurens says another Liverpool player is among the flops of the season
It is a bit harsh to name Chiesa as one of the flops of the season, as he has only played 395 minutes of football at Liverpool.
The Italian hasn’t been given a proper go by Slot, and it is not fair to judge him on the minutes he has played this term.
Julien Laurens, however, agrees with Hislop’s opinion on Chiesa, and the journalist added another Liverpool player in that list – Darwin Nunez.
He said: “This is not new to see Darwin in this kind of a poor form, but still, this is low for him after being bought for so much money by Liverpool.”
