Mohamed Salah took an iconic selfie after firing Liverpool 4-1 ahead against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, after being handed a phone from the crowd.
Liverpool beat Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield to secure the 2024-25 Premier League title in the first season under head coach Arne Slot, doing so with four games to spare. It took until the second half for Salah to get in on the action, but he made his moment count.
After beating Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario at his near post, Salah ran to the crowd and grabbed a phone, ensuring that he could squeeze thousands of fans into an iconic selfie after scoring. It turns out that the phone was owned by a club photographer, and is expected to go viral once it’s posted on social media.
Seven minutes later, Salah played his part in another goal as he pressured Destiny Udogie, only for the Tottenham defender to put the ball into his own net. Liverpool also scored three goals in the first half, as Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, and Cody Gakpo found the back of the net.
Initially, it looked like Tottenham might spoil Liverpool’s party, as former player Dominic Solanke opened the scoring after 13 minutes. However, Liverpool quickly recovered, and Slot knew that the Reds had no choice but to win the title in front of their home fans on Sunday.
“It was clear we couldn’t lose this game,” Slot said. “Everyone on the bus said there’s no way we’re going to lose this game. They always find a way to win.

“Incredibly proud, not only of the players but the people standing here, sport directors, my staff members, we should give them a big round of applause. Let’s forget it’s the second in 35 years, it’s the second in five years.”
The Liverpool head coach then added in an interview with Sky Sports: “It is difficult to put into words. The scenes here and before the game tells you more than I can describe.
“[The fans being here] is what makes it special. Three or four years ago they won the league. It was an amazing accomplishment, but the fans weren’t there. So you can feel how important it was for them to be here. And the boys did an outstanding job today, including our fans.”
Salah said to Peacock after the game that it was the greatest moment of his Liverpool career so far, and the Egyptian can now look forward to two more seasons after signing an extension in April. Joining him will be Virgil van Dijk, who also committed to the club.
“This is the most beautiful club in the world,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports after the game. “We deserve this. We are going to enjoy the next couple of weeks and take it in.
“I was desperate to win it for them [the fans] and all the fans around the world, and for us as well. We have won two Premier League trophies in five years.”
The only uncertainty remains with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract at the end of this season and heavily linked with Real Madrid. Despite clinching the Premier League title, Alexander-Arnold made it clear he wouldn’t be conducting media interviews, according to Peacock.
