Fulham now set to open talks with £12m player after West Ham offer him a contract – journalist

Fulham and West Ham look set to be involved in a transfer battle this summer.

The Cottagers have enjoyed an impressive season under Marco Silva – who Tottenham admire – which could still end in qualification for Europe, with Fulham currently sitting eighth in the Premier League.

West Ham – contrastingly – have struggled, languishing down in 17th after a terrible start to the campaign under Julen Lopetegui, which has hardly improved much since Graham Potter replaced the Spaniard.

As a result, there has not been much of a battle between Fulham and West Ham in the Premier League, although there is now set to be a fight to sign Kyle Walker-Peters.

Fulham set to begin talks with West Ham target Kyle Walker-Peters

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports has now revealed that Fulham are planning to speak to the England international once the 2024/25 campaign is over.

It comes after TBR Football learned that West Ham have already offered Walker-Peters a contract as he approaches free agency.

The right-back sees his deal with Southampton expire this summer, and given his pedigree, a number of clubs view him as a bargain just waiting to be snapped up.

Tottenham also like Walker-Peters, and are ready to offer the 28-year-old a chance to return to Hotspur Way, where he emerged from the academy in 2015 before a £12m move to Southampton in August 2020.

What Harry Kane and Jose Mourinho have previously said about Kyle Walker-Peters

Whoever lands the Southampton No.2 this summer will be getting themselves a respected player.

Even Harry Kane has previously hailed Walker-Peters, saying: “It is great to see them. I obviously know Kyle (Walker-Peters) from when he was at Spurs, he is a great lad, he works really hard and he has done really well at Southampton.”

Jose Mourinho has also praised Walker-Peters in the past, adding: “He’s a kid that everyone loves here (Tottenham) and Daniel Levy has a special feeling for here. He came here so young, a kid who has been here for years and years. He’s playing well.”

Now, the defender could be returning to London, as Fulham prepare to battle West Ham and Tottenham for his signature.
