Andy Robertson would have been overjoyed after hearing the full-time whistle after Liverpool’s 5-1 thumping of Tottenham Hotspur as he officially became a two-time Premier League winner.
Having played in several great Liverpool sides, the fact that he had only managed to win one title would likely have played on the Scotsman’s mind.
But on Sunday, Andy Robertson joined Brian McClair and Darren Fletcher to become the third Scottish player in Premier League history to win multiple titles.
While Jamie Carragher has called Robertson’s form out, it goes without saying that his blend of experience and leadership has made him a key player in their title triumph.
Considering Arne Slot is considering upgrading on Robertson, the 31-year-old especially has a reason to be relieved as it is possible that next season onwards, he becomes a mere squad player.
Liverpool star Andy Robertson says it’s “nonsense” to say the Premier League is “worse”
After winning the title with Liverpool at Anfield, Andy Robertson was told that only six teams in the Premier League era have won the league with four games to spare — which sums up the sky-high standards the Reds have set this season.
Robertson replied by mentioning that this Liverpool side have been incredibly consistent in what has still been a challenging season while stating that any suggestions about the Premier League declining as a whole is “nonsense.”
The former Hull City left-back told Optus Sport: “I think we’ve set really high standards. People say the league isn’t as good as it was, it’s nonsense! The teams below us are so much better, the mid-table teams look outsiders for the top four and this season has been so successful for us.”
“We’ve tried so hard, we’ve been so consistent and I think that’s why we’re so far ahead and like you’ve said, we’ve won it with so many games to spare and it’s so pleasing and now focus on Crystal Palace where we can get our hands on the trophy.”
Would Liverpool have won the Premier League last season?
Even last season, Liverpool were in the title race during Jurgen Klopp’s final season.
However, their title charge eventually burst into flames as Manchester City won the league for a historic fourth time in a row.
If Arne Slot’s side do win every league until the end of the season, they will outdo City’s tally of 91 points by notching up 94.
Considering the Premier League’s quality was not being questioned during the previous campaign, the fact that Liverpool could eclipse Manchester City’s last title-winners proves Robertson’s point that ultimately, this Reds side is just simply brilliant.

Moreover, the quality of sides like Nottingham Forest, AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Fulham to name a few cannot be discounted — as the mid-table sides are arguably the best they have ever been.
Ultimately, Robertson and his Liverpool teammates will be in celebratory mood and not pay much attention to any suggestions that their title win has been anything short of phenomenal.
