Arsenal officially lost the Premier League to Liverpool on Sunday night, with the Reds thrashing Tottenham 5-1 to secure their 20th League title.
The Gunners were considered a serious threat to Liverpool’s title charge at one stage. However, Arsenal underwent a serious injury crisis mid-season, which is said to be one of the reasons that they could not keep up with the Reds.
Mikel Arteta pushed for a new striker in January, but the club failed to deliver.
Now, with Andrea Berta appointed as sporting director, Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer market — with a new striker a top priority.
One name linked with a move to the Emirates is Ademola Lookman.
Arsenal to hold talks with Ademola Lookman
Arsenal have been linked with Lookman since the January transfer window.
Not only were the Gunners interested in him, but reports at the time suggested that Lookman himself was keen on joining Arsenal.
The Gunners remain interested in the Ballon d’Or-nominated striker, and according to the latest update from CaughtOffside, they are among several Premier League clubs planning to hold talks with Lookman soon.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United are also reportedly keen on signing the former Premeir League attacker.
Arsenal, however, face stiff competition from abroad as well, with the report stating that Barcelona have already made contact with Lookman’s representatives, while Juventus are also monitoring his situation closely.
Ian Wright has previously urged Arsenal to sign Ademola Lookman
Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman, who has been described as ‘absolutely incredible‘ by Brendan Rodgers has flourished into one of Serie A’s most electric strikers, becoming a key part of the Italian side.
His iconic moment came in the 2024 Europa League final, where he scored a stunning hat-trick to lead Atalanta to their first European trophy in over six decades.
Club | Games | Goals | Assists |
Atalanta | 115 | 50 | 24 |
Leicester City | 42 | 8 | 5 |
Everton | 48 | 4 | 2 |

With the Gunners in need of a striker back in January, club legend Ian Wright recommended Arsenal to sign Lookman.
He named the Nigerian along with Omar Marmoush as two players the club should be looking at signing back then.
Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, he said: “You know what? There’s two players I’d probably go for here. But like, we obviously have to go for one.
“And I’d like people to have a look at Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt.
“You know him, right? You know him very well. And you know, from Eintracht Frankfurt, and you know, Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, bro.
“If you’re going, if I’m going now, and you have to get something, if you go hard, bam, I’m going hard on them two. Go and look at Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt, what he’s doing.”
While Marmoush ultimately joined Manchester City during the January window, Lookman remains available — and could still prove to be a brilliant signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.
