Hansi Flick vs. Vincent Kompany!
After winning the Copa del Rey with FC Barcelona over Real Madrid, former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick let his feelings be known about the rough-and-tumble approach taken by Real in the match.
“For me, it’s just sport, it’s just football,” Flick said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We have to protect everyone involved in the game. The fans, they all want to see the players, how they play. We need the referees, and we have to look after them and be careful. It’s not fair play not to look after them, it’s not showing them respect.
“We have to enjoy the final. We have a young team. It will be a great experience for a young group. There are no favorites in a final. We want to start well and fight for the title.”
While Flick is still far from winning LaLiga or the Champions League, he has done exceptionally well during his first season with FC Barcelona. Thinking back to that tumultuous period when Bayern Munich was trying to decide on a new coach and several report indicated that Flick would be welcomed back in Bavaria, only for Max Eberl to pull the ultimate swerve and bring in Vincent Kompany…who would you rather have knowing what you know now?
