Exclusive: Arsenal have decided the two strikers they want summer with Andrea Berta already doing work

4 Min Read

Viktor Gyokeres is one of two main candidates who Andrea Berta is exploring a move for at Arsenal this summer, TBR Football can reveal.

Arsenal were once again in attendance to see the Gyokeres show in Lisbon last weekend when the Swede scored four goals against Boavista.

The Gunners have now watched Gyokeres score seven times in their last two visits to Portugal as they were also at Sporting’s victory over Moreirense when he scored a hat-trick earlier this month.

Portugal’s media have been amazed by Gyokeres recently who continues to improve his remarkable goalscoring record — one that is impossible to ignore from an Arsenal perspective.

Berta is already convinced about Gyokeres, and he is now one of two names who are emerging at the top of Arsenal’s shortlist.

Arsenal want Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that it’s becoming increasingly obvious that Arsenal’s choice will be between Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Berta is continuing to do work on several strikers and Arsenal have been checking on Sesko in person again in recent weeks.

Sources are refusing to rule out other options such as Dusan Vlahovic, Hugo Ekitike and Ollie Watkins — three strikers who would improve Mikel Arteta’s squad.

However, Gyokeres and Sesko are now emerging as the two most likely candidates.

Arsenal have held talks with Sesko’s camp to explore a possible move recently and it’s clear that Berta really is going to work earlier to find a solution for Arteta.

Sesko is at a much earlier stage of his career in comparison to Gyokeres, who is scoring at will in Portugal.

But perhaps some in football would still conclude that Sesko has the higher ceiling — a difficult choice for Arsenal to make.

Arsenal could have sold Gabriel Jesus

That being said, one source has confirmed to TBR that if Gabriel Jesus had been fit then Arsenal might have sold the Brazilian were the opportunity to arise this summer.

In that situation, Arsenal could have seen two strikers arrive at the Emirates Stadium — perhaps a ‘win now’ starter alongside a rotation option.

As it stands, Arsenal are expecting and are confident that it will be one striker and one left-winger who arrive in terms of their attacking additions.

Arsenal have held Nico Williams talks, a player who Arteta is known to adore.

However, it remains to be seen if the Spaniard will be Premier League bound this summer.

Williams has long preferred a move to the Catalan capital but unless Barcelona sell Raphinha, they might not be able to launch a move in the next few months.
