Report: Club now ready to sell player Liverpool want as contact made to sign £17m replacement

Noises coming from Liverpool suggest Arne Slot could be given a rather large transfer budget to play with this summer.

The Reds are keen to capitalise on a dominant season under the Dutchman – his first campaign since replacing Jurgen Klopp – with some areas in need of freshening up after a few poor results in 2025 so far.

Liverpool lost the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle and also appeared to run out of steam against PSG, falling out of the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 stage, so improvements can certainly be made.

Now, a player Liverpool want to sign in Andrea Cambiaso looks obtainable as Juventus make an approach to buy his replacement.

Juventus move for Maxim De Cuyper in boost for Liverpool

Calciomercato now state that Liverpool are a side to “watch out” for in the race to sign Cambiaso, an Italy international.

Pep Guardiola wants the Juventus No.27 at Manchester City, although the Citizens are warned to beware of Liverpool, who are targeting the full-back as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid when his contract at Anfield expires in June.

Juventus are willing to sell Cambiaso for a fee of €45m (£38m) – but that is not all.

As aforesaid, Cristian Giuntoli – Technical Director for Juventus – has already moved to sign Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge, so the fact succession planning is already taking place strongly suggests Cambiaso wil depart Turin soon.

The Belgian defender is valued at £17m.

Andrea Cambiaso could kill two birds with one stone for Arne Slot

Liverpool are also looking at Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth as the Reds target a younger option at left-back, with Andrew Robertson far from the player he used to be.

However, Liverpool might not need a left-back if a deal can be done for Cambiaso, as the 25-year-old is capable of playing on either the left or right of defence.

The man from Genova has made ten appearances on the right flank this season, and 29 on the left.
