‘Wow’: Ian Wright says Liverpool will be even better next season if they sign £16m player

Liverpool have just become the Premier League champions, but eyes are already on next season.

Indeed, while the Reds are on cloud nine right now, there are three other trophies that Liverpool have failed to win this season.

Liverpool still have room to grow and improve, and heading into the summer transfer window, the Merseyside club have work to do.

Liverpool need a new left-back according to Jamie Carragher, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has suggested a potential signing in that area.

Milos Kerkez has been strongly linked to Liverpool, and according to Wright, the Bournemouth star could be just what the doctor ordered at Anfield.

Milos Kerkez would improve Liverpool

Wright shared his verdict on who Liverpool should sign this summer.

The pundit was asked to name a player who he thinks could help Liverpool improve, and Kerkez was the first player who sprang to mind.

“Who makes them better?” Wright was asked.

“Who makes them better? Wow, I think left-back, I think Kerkez, Kerkez. I don’t want to take players out of other teams, but I think at left-back, and I think Nunez, they need some kind of striker, they need that,” Wright said.

Milos Kerkez’s best friend already plays for Liverpool

Liverpool are keen on Kerkez, and this would be a smart signing in more ways than one.

Indeed, Kerkez has earned huge praise this season for his performances with Bournemouth, and, in terms of sheer talent, he would be a great addition to this side.

On top of that, the £16m man would also probably find it easy to settle at Anfield.

Kerkez is a former AZ Alkmaar player, and while he didn’t work directly under Arne Slot, he’ll know a lot of his tactics from the Dutchman’s time at Alkmaar as the system stayed largely similar after he departed to join Feyenoord.

Meanwhile, Kerkez already has one strong ally in the Liverpool squad.

Indeed, Dominik Szoboszlai has previously named Kerkez as his best friend within the Premier League, via Nemzeti Sport.

“I would choose Bournemouth’s left-back, Milos Kerkez. He looks like me, only a little crazier than me. But he still has time to grow up,” Szoboszlai said.

Szoboszlai and Kerkez, of course, know each other from their time playing together internationally, and, who knows? Perhaps we could soon see this partnership rekindled at club level.
