Chelsea have been handed a double injury blow ahead of Thursday’s fixture with Djurgardens IF in the Conference League semi-finals.
The Blues head into the first leg in Sweden looking to build on their recent Premier League victories over the likes of Fulham and Everton.
With a home encounter versus Liverpool to come on Sunday, Enzo Maresca is expected to make a number of changes to his starting lineup for the contest with the Allsvenskan outfit.
However, it has been revealed that two of the Italian’s most senior players have not made the trip to Scandinavia with the rest of the squad.
Who is missing for Chelsea?
When the official squad list was announced, it was revealed that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and forward Christopher Nkunku were not part of the travelling group.
As per BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, both players are dealing with minor injuries and have been omitted as a precation.
Sanchez is said to have suffered a knock to his leg against Everton, while Nkunku is also dealing with a similar issue picked up in training.
While Sanchez would have likely started on the substitutes’ bench, Nkunku may have been handed a start down the centre of the attack or in an advanced midfield role.
Who have replaced them?
With Lucas Bergstrom being promoted to deputy behind Filip Jorgensen, youngster Ted Curd has also travelled to act as third choice.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old forward Shim Mheuka is part of the attacking contingent having already made four outings for the first time this campaign.
