Bayern Munich better prepare a video set to the 90210 theme is this happens…

According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is really working hard to convince Thomas Müller to make the move to LAFC:

Jochen Sauer, Campus director and head of Red&Gold Football, the joint venture between FC Bayern and Los Angeles FC, is driving forward Thomas Müller’s move to LAFC. Sauer made a big presentation about the club to the player in order to convince him to move there. Müller would even get a house in Beverly Hills to live in as part of the deal. For FC Bayern, having Müller there would be a big advertisement for the club in the US.

A house…in Beverly Hills? You don’t say. Maybe he needs some theme music (sing it to the tune of this classic jam):

Come and listen to a story about a man named Thomas,

.Famous footballer who’s havin’ problems with his boss.

And then one day he was workin’ for his loot,

And he realized his bosses were givin’ him the boot.

No contract that is…fired…sacked from his gig.

Well the first thing you know ol’ Tommy needs a job,

Football club said “Tommy hand in your key fob”

They said “Californy is the place you ought to be”

So Tommy loaded up his horses and moved to Beverly…

Hills, that is.

Swimmin’ pools, movie stars.

(Instrumental)

Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Tommy and all his kin.

And they would like to thank you folks fer always supportin’ him.

You’re all invited back next season to this locality

To have a heapin helpin’ of LAFC

LA Football Club that is. Grab a stein, load up on sunscreen. Y’all come back now, y’hear?

Are you feeling Müller in MLS yet? Eh…neither are we…but we’ll always have that Beverly Hillbillies parody.

Anyway, Müller should feel no obligation to appease his soon-to-be ex-bosses on this one and it does feel like everyone might be overthinking exactly how much of a box office impact Müller might be at this stage of his career.

Sure, there will be some hardcore Bayern Munich fans in the area who would love it, but it is the United States after all, and it would be a gamble to think Müller will move the needle much at the age of 35…in Los Angeles…where the Dodgers and Lakers already rule the roost.

Whatever he does, hopefully Müller ends up happy with his decision.
