Arne Slot hinted he is already speaking to possible Liverpool signings ahead of the transfer window opening next month.
The Reds are expecting a busy summer with several incomings and outgoings as they plot to try to retain a Premier League title for the first time since 1984. In a sense, there’s already a winding-down feeling around Kirkby, with little to play for between now and the end of the season.
Slot admitted he will rotate his squad in the final league matches of the campaign and said Liverpool’s points tally with four games to go will be a better reflection of the season rather than the final number accrued.
Slot was quizzed on whether he is already focusing on the next campaign and implied he is certainly thinking about the summer transfer window. The Dutchman inadvertently hinted he has spoken informally to potential signings, and stated the fans’ reaction to Sunday’s title win will entice new arrivals.
“There are so many things that have influence on next season,” said Slot. “Is it an advantage that teams go to the Club World Cup? I think the main advantage of winning the Premier League is, until now, if I spoke to new players that I wanted to bring in, I always told them that our fans are really special, that it is special to play at this club.
“I think that was not necessary even to tell them in the past, but after Sunday [and the title celebrations] I don’t think I ever have to tell anyone again how special our fans are.
“That was un-believe-able. Not just because of the emotions but also because them not coming on the pitch.
“The amount of times I see teams winning the league and there is a pitch invasion and after two minutes everyone is like ‘what are we doing here?’.

“But they stayed in the stands and the celebrations were incredible – not even after the game, but during the game.
“Winning the league, having these fans, I think that is a big attraction to every player we want to bring in and it is definitely helpful.”
That Slot touched on transfers, without even being questioned about recruitment, is perhaps a telling sign of where his mind is currently at.
Virgil van Dijk said last month that he is expecting a “big summer”, while Slot has admitted there will be a number of upgrades to the side that sits 15 points clear at the top of the league.
A new right-back, center-back, left-back and striker are among the priorities, with suggestions that a defensive and creative midfielder could be sought, plus a winger.
