Exclusive: Fabio Paratici makes final decision on Tottenham return after his 30-month FIFA ban

3 Min Read

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Fabio Paratici has agreed terms over a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian joined Spurs as their managing director of football in the summer of 2021 after over a decade at Juventus. He spent nearly two years in North London before he was forced to stop by FIFA.

Paratici was handed a two-and-a-half-year ban by football’s governing body, and he is still currently serving that.

But, in the summer, he will be eligible to work again, and Tottenham have sealed the deal to bring him back to North London.

Fabio Paratici agrees terms to re-join Tottenham

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Fabio Paratici has agreed terms on his return to Tottenham Hotspur.

We revealed in March that Daniel Levy has told Paratici that he wanted him to return to North London and ‘finish what you started’.

AC Milan had also been locked in talks with Paratici, but despite agreeing terms, they backed away from the deal, leaving the path open for Spurs.

Now, following further talks with Levy, TBR can confirm that a deal is in place for Paratici to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 52-year-old can’t officially start work until the 1st of July, when the 30-month ban he was slapped with in 2023 for his perceived role in financial mismanagement during his time at Juventus comes to an end.

When FIFA announced their decision, Paratici had to resign from his role as the managing director of football at Tottenham, but we are told he will now come back as Technical Director, in charge of football.

The Italian will form part of a new footballing team at Spurs, along with new CEO Vinai Venkatesham, who has arrived from Arsenal.

Fabio Paratici will have the final say on one major Tottenham decision

Tottenham have had a shocking domestic campaign.

The North Londoners are set to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table, having lost 19 of their 34 games so far.

TBR revealed in April that irrespective of whether Tottenham win the Europa League or not, Ange Postecoglou is set to be shown the door at the end of the season.

Now, we can confirm that Paratici is set to have the ‘final say’ on Spurs’ managerial situation and will decide who will replace Postecoglou if the Australian does depart.

Tottenham have been linked with Simone Inzaghi, a manager Paratici will know well thanks to his time in the Serie A.
