In addition to wanting a “top center-back,” Bayern is also keeping tabs on the market for a right-back.

There could be a plethora of personnel changes at Bayern Munich this summer. Most of the transfer efforts this season were centered around securing contract extensions for Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich, but there is still a great deal of squad planning that has been taking place behind the scenes, having been spearheaded by Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and Vincent Kompany.

In addition to the wing positions, Bayern is also prepping for some movements in the defensive third of the pitch. It has already been confirmed that Eric Dier will be moving to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 this summer, and fellow center back Kim Min-jae is also a candidate for sale. The club is actively searching for center backs, prepping for the departure of Dier as well as the potential departure of Kim. Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah is one of the top names on Bayern’s center backs shopping list — a second time in less than a year that the German center back has been a topic of discussion for Bayern.

Per information from SportBild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is also in the market for a right back, especially given the rumors that Sacha Boey will be looking for a move back to France this summer. Before Boey played for Galatasaray, he had tenures at both Stade Rennes and Dijon. While he is not Kompany’s first or second choice right back, it impacts the squad since it has been reported the Belgian manager plans on using Josip Stanišić more as a center back as opposed to right back.

With Boey leaving and Stanišić playing more as a center back, that would really only leave Konrad Laimer, Kimmich, and Raphaël Guerreiro as right back options for Bayern, though Guerreiro is also likely to leave the club this summer. Laimer is open to staying and nothing, in theory, is standing in the way of him staying as his contract with the German Rekordmeister runs through June 2027.
