Well, this was unexpected…

Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané has been expected to extend his contract with the club, but there could be some complications.

Let’s take a look at the news as it has progressed today…

At the beginning, things were just a recap of where it all stood for Sané:

Bayern’s first offer for Leroy Sané was worth €8m fixed plus bonuses per year. But after further negotiations, both sides reached an agreement for €10m fixed plus €5m bonuses. The deal is now on the verge of being finalized.

Uh-oh! The first signs of trouble:

After reaching an agreement over a new contract with Bayern, Leroy Sané has separated from his agency ‘11Wins’ shortly before signing the contract. Sané will now be represented by Pini Zahavi. The cards are now reshuffled. It remains to be seen whether this change of agent means Sané wants more money or ultimately to leave the club.

Yikes! Another reporting showing up things could be getting crazy:

Yesterday, the agency that had most recently been negotiating on behalf of Leroy Sané was close to reaching a full agreement with Max Eberl on a new contract until 2028. Last night, however, Sané informed Eberl that he’s now represented by Pini Zahavi. Sané’s future is now open again – but an extension is not ruled out. Nevertheless, it’s questionable whether Bayern would agree to new terms. Arsenal are still interested. Eberl still wants Sané to extend.

And…now for the final assurance that things might be going sideways:

Pini Zahavi: “It’s true. Leroy Sané has joined our agency, and we’re looking forward to working with him. We have a very good relationship with FC Bayern and the people involved. We’re looking forward to the upcoming talks.”

In the end, this could all just be posturing or Sané seeking better guidance. However, if Zahavi is involved, the assumption would be that he is there to get the Bayern Munich winger the money back that he would be losing in the initial deal.

Stay tuned…
