TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Real Madrid have taken new measures in their pursuit for Liverpool targets Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez.
The Reds have been hugely interested in signing the AFC Bournemouth pair, with Liverpool having met Huijsen’s representatives as well.
Liverpool expected to agree a deal to sign Kerkez after holding talks with the Hungarian as well as Richard Hughes seems to have made moves to secure the Cherries duo’s signatures ahead of the summer.
However, Real Madrid have admired Huijsen for ages and Milos Kerkez has caught their attention as well.
Real Madrid scouted Liverpool targets Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez v Arsenal
So much so that Real Madrid sent scouts to watch the Liverpool-linked pair of Dean Huijsen and Kerkez in action against Arsenal as Bournemouth won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Huijsen even scored the opening goal by beating Declan Rice in the air while Kerkez, who has earned rave reviews this season continued to impress — which would have been a delight to witness for Real Madrid’s scouts as the reasons behind Liverpool’s interest were justified on Saturday as well.
Liverpool love Kerkez and TBR Football understands that Real Madrid consider the 21-year-old as one of the options on their shortlist to bolster their left-back department.
As for Huijsen, his dream destination is Spain and Los Blancos have been keen on the 20-year-old’s signature for a while and have remained in continued talks with his camp — as he is set to leave Bournemouth and Andoni Iraola’s side are open to accepting his £50 million release clause to be paid in installments.
While Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign Huijsen alongside Liverpool in the Premier League, other clubs such as Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have also made contact.
Virgil van Dijk loves Liverpool target who can be Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez plan B
When Real Madrid come calling, more often than not, it is difficult for players to say no.
However, top clubs like Arne Slot’s side always have a plan B in the transfer market.
But if Real Madrid do sign both Huijsen and Kerkez, Liverpool have scouted Jorrel Hato already — who is a centre-back by trade but this season, he has mostly played as a left-back.
Virgil van Dijk is a “big fan” of Jorrel Hato’s, who he plays with in the Dutch national team anyway.
In case, the Reds feel signing Hato alone might not be sufficient, there is more potentially good news for the Anfield faithful.
Some people at Liverpool prefer Antonee Robinson to Kerkez anyway and if the Premier League champions manage to sign the Fulham left-back alongside Hato to play at centre-back, even losing out on the Bournemouth stars will not seem like the biggest deals.
