Real Madrid and Manchester City could be out of the mix…

There have been some ups and downs during Bayern Munich’s rumored courtship of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, but now things could be slanting heavily toward the Bavarians — if you believe the latest information from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

At a time where Manchester City and Real Madrid are rumored to have major interest in the 22-year-old Germany international, Wirtz has — allegedly — told Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso (who is rumored to be moving to Real Madrid this summer) that his next move will be to Bavaria:

❗Florian Wirtz has informed Xabi Alonso that he doesn’t want to move to either Real Madrid or Manchester City. He only wants to join FC Bayern.

Leverkusen bosses are said to be unaware of Wirtz’s decision as of now. Neither Bayer 04 nor FC Bayern wanted to comment when contacted by @BILD

While nothing is official, this news does seem to follow this transfer saga’s most recent trends and also begs this question — If Bayern Munich is this close to getting Wirtz, does it need to even bring back Leroy Sané at all?

Let’s celebrate Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga championship and talk about what it means for several key members of the squad like Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and…Thomas Müller. Let’s also chat about late drama with Leroy Sané’s contract extension, Serge Gnabry potentially taking over for Harry Kane, and Kingsley Coman possibly wanting to stay in Bavaria as well.
