Liverpool transfer news amid Jeremie Frimpong offer as Milos Kerkez hijack planned

3 Min Read

Liverpool’s summer transfer priorities have just grown after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s announcement on Monday.

The right-back has confirmed he will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season, having elected not to follow Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah’s lead by signing a new contract with the Reds. His move to Real Madrid is yet to be announced, although that seems to just be a matter of time now.

With Alexander-Arnold on his way out, Arne Slot will have a decision to make on how to replace him. The latest reports suggest Liverpool may already be planning something in that regard.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)

Jeremie Frimpong has been identified as a priority target for Liverpool following Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave the club, according to Empire of the Kop.

Liverpool.com has previously reported on the Reds’ interest in the Bayer Leverkusen star, and this latest claim suggests that an opening offer in the region of $40M to $45M is being prepared.

Liverpool is said to want to complete a deal for Frimpong as quickly as possible, with the 24-year-old also claimed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Liverpool.com says: Regardless of whether Bradley is going to be the first-choice right-back after Alexander-Arnold’s departure or not, Liverpool needs a new option in that area. It can’t afford to find itself in a position where its relying on Jarell Quansah or Joe Gomez to fill in next season.

Frimpong is certainly an interesting option. Arguably even more of an attacking option than Alexander-Arnold, it would be interesting to see just how Slot would utilize him.

Milos Kerkez (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid could pile more misery on Liverpool by hijacking its move for Milos Kerkez, according to TeamTalk.

The Spanish giant of course looks set to land Alexander-Arnold this summer, and now its being suggested that it could also beat the Reds to their first-choice left-back this summer.

This latest report suggests that while Real has now made any significant moves for Kerkez, a late hijack has not been ruled out, with Liverpool having already been working on a deal to bring him to Anfield.

Liverpool.com says: Give us a rest Real. It’s bad enough they’re taking one of Liverpool’s best players, signing Kerkez as well would be kicking the Reds while they’re down.

Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be too much in this one, and it certainly seems Liverpool’s interest is much further along, so hopefully the Reds can get the deal done before any possible shenanigans from Madrid.
