Exclusive: Bayern Munich are increasingly confident of beating Manchester City to sign £87m attacker

2 Min Read

TBR Football understands that Bayern Munich are becoming increasingly confident that they will win the race to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich are dreaming of an attacking combination of Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, who combined so well together at Euro 2024 for Germany.

Wirtz has been one of the standout players in the Bundesliga across the last two seasons and the newly crowned German champions are keen to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit of the 22-year-old, as Manchester City also have him high up on their list of attacking targets.

Bayern Munich confident of beating Man City to Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz is Manchester City’s top summer target, however, Bayern Munich are increasingly confident that he is heading to the Allianz Arena, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Man City have already spoken to Wirtz and promised him that he will become the main man to replace the departing Kevin De Bruyne in Pep Guardiola’s team.

Morgan Gibbs-White is another target for City and talks have taken place with the Nottingham Forest midfielder about a potential move.

Arsenal and Liverpool remain contenders in the race for Wirtz, as TBR Football has previously revealed, but Munich being there makes things complicated.

What Xabi Alonso has told Florian Wirtz about joining Real Madrid

Wirtz, who is valued at around £87m, has been told by his current manager, Xabi Alonso, that he would like to take him to Real Madrid.

Alonso is one of the leading contenders for the Madrid job, with Carlo Ancelotti expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Spanish manager is set to depart Bayer Leverkusen for the Santiago Bernabeu and he is keen for the youngster to make the same move.
