Exclusive: How Richarlison feels about leaving Tottenham to rejoin Everton this summer

4 Min Read

Everton are seriously interested in bringing Richarlison back to the club from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Tottenham signed Richarlison in 2022 for a considerable fee, a forward who had just scored 53 goals in 152 games for Everton.

However, the Brazilian hasn’t been able to repeat his one in three record in north London where he’s a much more peripheral figure, a forward often used from the bench.

At Goodison Park, Richarlison was the figurehead of Everton’s attack — a player who competed for every ball, truly wearing his heart on his sleeve, so to speak.

And with Everton now moving to their new Bramley-Moore Dock home, they could take a face from the past with them, one who remains incredibly popular on Merseyside.

Richarlison applauded Everton’s fans on his final visit to Goodison earlier this season, and there is the lingering feeling of unfinished business.

Richarlison could see Everton as his ‘best option’

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has now provided the latest on the Richarlison to Everton situation.

The upcoming World Cup will be a huge factor when it comes to Richarlison’s decision this summer, and it’s believed that the Brazilian sees a move back to Everton as the most opportune solution right now.

Explaining the situation, Bailey said: “The main thing about Richarlison is we are now in a World Cup cycle, and many in Brazil still believe he is their best option.

“He actually has a very good record for them with 20 goals to his name.

“I’m told that he has been made aware that he needs to be playing next season.

“Brazil have a host of options competing with him – Real Madrid’s Endrick but also a host of Premier League rivals – Joao Pedro, Rodrigo Muniz and Evanilson… and they will all be starting for their respective clubs.

“Richarlison needs to be playing, he knows this and that is just why Everton are in such a strong position. They can offer him that chance of first-team football.

“Everton want him back, as we revealed earlier this year, and I believe there is confidence from their side, but also a belief from Richarlison and Spurs’ end that this is likely the best option.

“As it stands a permanent deal will be tough, but that is what the talks in the coming weeks will be aimed to work out.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation

Of course, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future will also be a key factor in Everton’s planning for next season.

As things stand, Calvert-Lewin plans to leave Everton but it’s not impossible for the situation to take another turn.

The Englishman often combined with Richarlison to good effect in the past, and perhaps the club’s ambitious transfer plans could still convince Calvert-Lewin.

David Moyes wants the striker to stay but his five-year-deal is now on the cusp of expiration.

But on the topic of players who could re-join Moyes’ side, Everton are interested in John Stones at Manchester City to a degree, a player who could be set to depart the Etihad.
