It’s not over until Pep Guardiola says it’s over?

Bayern Munich seems to have the inside track on Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, but that does not mean that Manchester City has given up on the 22-year-old just yet per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia):

Florian Wirtz wants to join FC Bayern, but Bayer Leverkusen are not prepared to let him go for less than €150m all-in this summer. The exact breakdown of the €150m (fixed fee + performance related add-ons) will be subject to negotiations. Leverkusen are increasingly assuming that Wirtz won’t extend his contract. His desire is to move to Munich, though Manchester City have not given up yet.

Assuming Bayern Munich can hold off Pep Guardiola on this pursuit, board member for sport Max Eberl is still going to be under the gun to reduce the salary budget and sell players who might not want to leave, per Tz’s Vinzent Tschirpke and Philipp Kessler:

Bayern have enough money to sign Florian Wirtz, but beyond that, Max Eberl must watch the finances in order to further strengthen the squad. Sales are necessary, and the wage bill must be reduced by at least 20% —that’s the requirement for Eberl.

Reduce the salary budget by 20%?

Let’s celebrate Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga championship and talk about what it means for several key members of the squad like Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and…Thomas Müller. Let’s also chat about late drama with Leroy Sané’s contract extension, Serge Gnabry potentially taking over for Harry Kane, and Kingsley Coman possibly wanting to stay in Bavaria as well.
