Indepediente president confirms there has been no contact or negotiations with Bayern Munich for Felipe Loyola

Remember this rumor?

Last week, some reputable sources in Argentina claimed Bayern Munich were in very advanced negotiations to sign Independiente’s Felipe Loyola and that the Argentine club were already looking for a replacement.

This week, however, those rumors have received what is more or less a death blow. Néstor Grindetti, president of Independiente, spoke about the rumors “There are no negotiations with Bayern Munich for Felipe Loyola at all. There has been no contact, not even informal,” Grindetti said to Radio La Red (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I heard there were people from Bayern Munich ‘hanging around’, but they didn’t say anything.”

This does not necessarily rule out that the Bavarians could sign Loyola or have already laid down the groundwork to get the Chilean midfielder. The club is in the midst of their season and perhaps the president decided to deny these rumors to avoid destabilizing the dressing room. Perhaps Bayern have only been negotiating with Loyola without notifying Independiente. But those are rather unlikely scenarios. What is still most likely is that Grindetti is telling the complete truth and that Loyola will not join Bayern. We will keep you up to date if there any more updates to this story.
