Exclusive: What Liverpool sources are saying about signing Kevin De Bruyne from Man City

3 Min Read

TBR Football have now spoken to Liverpool sources about the possibility of Kevin De Bruyne making the switch to Anfield from Manchester City this summer.

It has been claimed that Liverpool have shown interest in De Bruyne who is set to leave Man City at the end of the season.

De Bruyne is open to staying in England after leaving City — a surprise turn of events given long-standing links to the MLS.

A number of Premier League clubs are interested in De Bruyne as a result, a 33-year-old who scored City’s winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

However, a move to Liverpool would still be a sensational story, especially given their Premier League rivalry with City over the years.

Liverpool have no interest in signing Kevin De Bruyne

That being said, Liverpool sources have confirmed to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that they have no interest in signing De Bruyne.

It has even been claimed that Liverpool have made an offer to the Belgium international but TBR can confirm that is not the case.

A source has confirmed that there is ‘no interest’ from Liverpool’s side who are instead focusing on setting their squad up for long-term success under Arne Slot.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s number one target, although that is going to be a very difficult deal for Richard Hughes to execute.

And as a result, Liverpool are considering Victor Osimhen among others as they look to find an upgrade on Darwin Nunez.

Of course, Liverpool will also be targeting a full-back on either side of their defence.

And although Milos Kerkez is high on the club’s list at left-back, Liverpool are also interested in Antonee Robinson.

Chicago Fire keen to sign Kevin De Bruyne

In terms of De Bruyne’s own future, TBR can also reveal that the Belgian has been open to staying at City for this summer’s Club World Cup.

However, it is not believed at this point that De Bruyne will be involved for Pep Guardiola’s side.

De Bruyne’s camp are continuing discussions about his future and one of those most keen in taking the City legend to the MLS is Chicago Fire.

Former Liverpool favourite Xherdan Shaqiri left Chicago last summer to return to his boyhood side FC Basel.

And De Bruyne is much more likely to replace the former Liverpool star in the MLS than he is to head to Anfield himself any time soon.
