Ipswich lineup vs. Brentford: Predicted XI for Premier League

2 Min Read

Ipswich Town are set to be without at least eight players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brentford at Portman Road.

While Leif Davis will serve the third and final game of his three-man ban, Nathan Broadhead, Conor Townsend (both hamstring), Jaden Philogene, Wes Burns (both knee), Arijanet Muric (shoulder), Sammie Szmodics (ankle) and Chiedozie Ogbene (calf) all remain sidelined with injuries.

Ben Johnson is available for selection after missing last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Everton through suspension and he is set to battle with Axel Tuanzebe – who recently recovered from a thigh problem – to start at right-back where Dara O’Shea has filled in for the last two games.

O’Shea could move back into the centre of defence if he is not starting at right-back, partnering either Luke Woolfenden or Cameron Burgess, while Jacob Greaves is set to continue as a makeshift left-back in the absence of Davis and Townsend.

Napoli loanee Jens Cajuste will be hoping to force his way back into Kieran McKenna‘s first XI at the expense of Jack Taylor and join captain Sam Morsy in centre-midfield. Kalvin Phillips and Massimo Luongo are two other midfield options but they may have to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench.

Julio Enciso scored a trademark wondergoal in the draw with Everton and is set to retain his spot in the final third alongside Conor Chaplin and Omari Hutchinson. George Hirst also found the net against the Toffees, but he may not have done enough to displace top scorer Liam Delap up front.

Ipswich Town possible starting lineup: Palmer; Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Burgess, Greaves; Morsy, Cajuste; Hutchinson, Chaplin, Enciso; Delap
