Brentford are set to be without four players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Vitaly Janelt (ankle), Josh Dasilva (knee), Fabio Carvalho (shoulder) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) all remain sidelined with injuries, but Igor Thiago was fit to make his long-awaited return to the matchday squad for last weekend’s thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester United.
Thiago made a brief substitute appearance against the Red Devils and the striker is expected to begin on the bench once against Ipswich, as Thomas Frank has no reason to switch up his in-form frontline of Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade, who have all scored 10+ PL goals this season, the latter of whom netted a brace against Man United.
Mikkel Damsgaard has impressed throughout this season in an advanced midfield role and he is expected to retain his starting spot, while Mathias Jensen could replace Yehor Yarmolyuk in the middle of the pitch and link up with captain Christian Norgaard.
Rico Henry has featured as a substitute in Brentford’s last three league games and Frank will weigh up whether to hand the left-back his first start of the season at the expense of Keane Lewis-Potter, who has performed well in a makeshift defensive role this term.
January signing Michael Kayode could continue at right-back, while Nathan Collins and Sepp van den Berg may get the nod to start at centre-back, although Ethan Pinnock and Kristoffer Ajer will both be pushing for a recall.
Brentford possible starting lineup: Flekken; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Jensen, Norgaard, Damsgaard; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade
