It’s been a year of big transfers and big contracts for Eberl, the FC Bayern sporting chief.

Max Eberl has come under fire from some corners lately but Bayern Munich’s executive board member for sport feels there is much he can be proud of in his tenure in Bavaria so far.

“With Michael Olise we brought in a player who is having a very good season and is an absolute fan favorite,” Eberl said in comments captured by Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). “Hiroki Itō is finally fit and can show how important he is for the structure of the team. João Palhinha was plagued by injuries and had a strong competitor in Aleks Pavlović. The return of Josip Stanišić was a good decision.

“Most recently we have implemented ‘internal transfers’ — that’s what I call contract extensions. Phonzy and Jamal represent the future of the club, Manuel Neuer represents a stable structure. With Jonas Urbig we have a clear idea of how we want to position ourselves in the goalkeeping area in the future.

“Now it’s about making decisions on the final players [contracts] and then the question will be: How much money do we have available to strengthen the squad in specific areas?”

How much, indeed. The question all Bayern fans are waiting to see answered.
