Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ‘captivated’ by Inter Milan star but deal ‘could cost £85m’

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly determined to bring Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni to Bernabeu during this summer’s transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been a vital player for Inter during the 2024-25 campaign, making 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing five assists in the process.

Bastoni played a vital role in Inter overcoming Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and he will be bidding to help the Italian giants triumph in the final of the competition against Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid’s president was ‘very focused’ on the Champions League semi-final between Inter and Barcelona due to the involvement of Bastoni.

The report claims that Perez is a huge admirer of the centre-back and will push to bring him to Bernabeu this summer.

Real Madrid ‘eyeing summer deal’ for Bastoni

However, Inter are allegedly unwilling to entertain offers of under €100m (£85m), and the Italian giants are in a strong position when it comes to the centre-back, who has a contract at San Siro until June 2028.

Real Madrid are said to have been monitoring Bastoni ‘for several seasons’, but his performances during the 2024-25 campaign have convinced the capital giants to step up their interest during the summer market.

Bastoni made the move to Inter from Atalanta BC in 2017, and he has represented his current side on 251 occasions in all competitions, scoring five goals and registering 23 assists in the process.

Will any Real Madrid centre-backs leave this summer?

Real Madrid are believed to be looking to move David Alaba on this summer, with the Austria international struggling to reach his top level since returning from a serious knee injury which sidelined him for more than a year.

Alaba is out for the remainder of the campaign with another knee issue, and it is thought that he may have played his final match for Los Blancos, with the club working on a transfer during the summer market.

The 32-year-old has the second-highest salary at Bernabeu behind Kylian Mbappe, and with ongoing concerns surrounding his fitness, it would not be a surprise to see Alaba depart at the end of the season.

Raul Asencio, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao are all set to remain with the club this summer, but there will be a departure for Jesus Vallejo, who only has a contract at Bernabeu until the end of June.
