Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that Conor Bradley will start at right-back over Trent Alexander-Arnold in Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Arsenal at Anfield.
The Reds boss spoke to the media on Friday for the first time since Alexander-Arnold announced his departure at the end of the season and confirmed that the Englishman’s deputy will have the chance to impress this weekend.
Bradley is expected to be part of a near full-strength backline for the Premier League champions, as Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson should return over Jarell Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas after last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Chelsea.
Virgil van Dijk scored Liverpool’s consolation goal at Stamford Bridge, and his next Premier League appearance will be his 300th, a tally only three Dutchman have ever managed: George Boateng (384), Dennis Bergkamp (315) and Edwin van der Sar (313).
Van Dijk’s compatriot Ryan Gravenberch and regular midfield partner Alexis Mac Allister should return to the engine room too, as will Dominik Szoboszlai following Harvey Elliott‘s belated first Premier League start of the season.
Still just one goal or assist away from matching the all-time Premier League record for direct involvements in one season, Mohamed Salah – recently named the FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year – will attempt to torment Myles Lewis-Skelly on the right flank.
Cody Gakpo should complete the Dutch contingent in the Liverpool team, while Luis Diaz is tipped to take Diogo Jota‘s place at the tip of the frontline.
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz
