Liverpool are set to be busy in the summer transfer window as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his ranks.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Liverpool have a “huge summer” on the cards in terms of transfer plans.

Full-backs will be on Liverpool‘s agenda this summer, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

“In terms of their back line, Liverpool are looking to bring in a new left-back, a new centre-back, and maybe a right-back,” wrote Bailey.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an exciting update on a £30million full-back wanted by Liverpool.

Jeremie Frimpong ready to say goodbye to Bayer Leverkusen as Liverpool circle

The player in question is Jeremie Frimpong, who has been shining for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and for the Netherlands.

Back in March, TBR Football revealed that Liverpool had begun work on assessing a potential move for Frimpong.

Now, Romano has reiterated that Liverpool’s interest in Frimpong is genuine and said the player is in fact ready to bid farewell to Leverkusen.

The transfer insider also spoke about how much Frimpong would cost, with the player having a release clause plus solidarity payments to his former clubs.

“Let’s say something close to €40million (£34million) for Jeremie Frimpong,” said Romano. “The clause is available this summer and many clubs are aware.

“Also because Jeremie Frimpong feels this is the right moment to go to say goodbye to Bayer Leverkusen after fantastic years together.

“Let me say that Liverpool’s interest in Frimpong is genuine. Liverpool are exploring this opportunity, they’re interested in the player.

“Liverpool need to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will go to Real Madrid, and Jeremie Frimpong is a player they like.

“Then there are also other clubs in the race, but Liverpool’s interest is for sure confirmed.”

Which other Premier League clubs could rival Liverpool for Jeremie Frimpong?

Back in March, TBR Football confirmed that Manchester United and Manchester City held talks with Frimpong’s camp.

Interestingly, Frimpong had been on Real Madrid’s radar to come in at right-back and the two parties held talks last year.

However, with Los Blancos moving for Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong won’t be heading to the Spanish capital any time soon.

Frimpong is an exciting talent who is proven at the highest level and, at just 24 years of age, is yet to reach his prime.

The Bundesliga website went as far as saying Frimpong was ‘unstoppable’ in the 2023/24 season.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand recently said he wanted Man United to move for Frimpong this summer.
