Manchester City could move a step closer to qualifying for next season’s Champions League as it faces an already-relegated Southamtpon today in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola’s side will go level on points with second-placed Arsenal with a victory on the south coast, and another three points would leave them well on course to finish inside the top five, having looked something of a doubt not too long ago.
As for Southampton, there really is not much to play for, although the Saints will be keen to pick up at least another point before the end of the season in order to avoid a joint-record for the worst points tally in the Premier League.

Early team news
Southampton has doubts over two players ahead of today’s game, with Albert Gronbaek and Charlie Taylor suffering from Achilles and hip problems respectively.
As for City, Rodri remains out, as do Nathan Ake, John Stone and Oscar Bobb, although Guardiola has confirmed all but Stones are back in training, which will come as a boost ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup. Erling Haaland though could be back in contention to start, having been out since the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Bournemouth at the end of March.
“He’s ready. He’s fit. Start? We decide tomorrow,” Guardiola said during his press conference on Friday.
