Arsenal are reported to have made an opening offer for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as they look to build a title-winning side.
The Gunners will travel to take on champions Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield, where they will give the Reds a guard of honour following their triumph.
Boss Mikel Arteta will likely lead his side to a third consecutive second-placed finish, with the club having missed out on silverware for a fifth consecutive campaign.
The Spanish manager is certain to be under more pressure to win a major trophy in 2025-26, and he will hope to be backed in the summer transfer market in order to achieve his goals.
Reports have emerged from Correio da Manha that claim Arsenal have made a £63.5million offer to Sporting to sign Gyokeres, who is said to be keen to join the Gunners.
How Arsenal are building a title-winning squad
Gyokeres is almost certain to represent a sizable upgrade on current number nine Kai Havertz given he has scored 53 goals in all competitions for club and country this season, whereas Havertz has only scored 17.
Arsenal have struggled as a team in the final third having only found the back of the net on 64 occasions in the Premier League this term, 17 fewer than Liverpool.
However, with the contracts of midfielders Thomas Partey and Jorginho expiring in the summer, Arteta may need to make reinforcements in the middle of the pitch.
Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates, and his immense ability on the ball would help the Gunners progress up the pitch.
His presence at the base of midfield may also help to alleviate the burden on Declan Rice in early phases of buildup and allow him to utilise his attacking strengths.
Should Arsenal sign the duo, Arteta would have spent in the region of £800m, and supporters should expect silverware considering the number of stars in the squad.
