Florian Wirtz playing behind Harry Kane? That sounds fun…
Bayern Munich appears to be to ready to acquire Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz.
Assuming the deal goes through (there will still be many obstacles — transfer fee, Leverkusen’s hatred of Bayern Munich, etc.), the Bavarians are reportedly ready to hand Wirtz the keys to the attack by playing him as the No. 10. That move, while in a scheme that would be fluid and allow for a lot of interchanging, would also push Jamal Musiala — someone who desperately wants to play as the No. 10 — out to wing.
As a wing, Musiala could be a scintillating option and would maybe relieve him of some things he has struggled with (which, admittedly, are the kinds of struggles that most players would die for). Isolating Musiala into 1v1 situations out-wide, while also giving him the positional flexibility to roam within the attack, could be incredible.
Moreover, once Alphonso Davies is healthy, Musiala and Davies could form an absolutely lethal left-side of the pitch.
In short, things could be very interesting for Bayern Munich with this look.
So…would you be a fan of this straight-forward move or do you think it needs to work a different way? Tell us in the comments.
