Liverpool are set for a busy summer on the transfer front and it looks as though they’ve already got the ball rolling.
The Reds are said to have made contact over a number of top players as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his Premier League title-winning side.
For instance, Liverpool are reported to have started talks to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
Meanwhile, TBR Football understand Liverpool have already opened talks to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool are closing in on a player previously deemed “one of the best players in the Bundesliga”.
Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool close to deal over Jeremie Frimpong
Romano has taken to X to claim that the Reds are making good progress in the pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong.
Back in March, TBR Football revealed that Liverpool had begun work on assessing a potential move for Frimpong.
Romano has now said: “Understand talks between Liverpool and Jeremie Frimpong’s camp over personal terms have advanced again today.
“Player’s always been keen on the move and Liverpool are progressing on salary, length of contract, every detail of the agreement. Deal close.”
The latest on Liverpool’s interest in Jeremie Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz
Frimpong is an exciting talent who is proven at the highest level and, at just 24 years of age, is yet to reach his prime.
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes previously said, as per the Bundesliga website: “Jeremie Frimpong has not only become one of our team’s best players, but in his position as an attacking right-back, he has become one of the best players in the Bundesliga.”
Frimpong may not be the only Leverkusen player to join Liverpool this summer either.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Liverpool had made contact with Florian Wirtz’s representatives to discuss a potential summer move.
David Ornstein also corroborated this on Wednesday afternoon, though Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol reported that Liverpool were not yet in talks over Wirtz.
Conflicting information is not unusual in the transfer rumour mill, but it’s good to see the Reds being so proactive ahead of the window opening.
