Exclusive: ‘Amazing’ manager who Tottenham want to replace Ange Postecoglou has just turned down another job

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that a Premier League manager linked with replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur has turned down a separate job offer.

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is under serious scrutiny following a disastrous second season, with the club languishing in 17th place in the league on just 38 points.

The North London outfit have now suffered 20 league defeats — the most in their Premier League history — as Postecoglou finds himself on the wrong side of the record books.

With uncertainty surrounding his position, Spurs have begun weighing up alternatives — and Fulham boss Marco Silva is among those firmly on their radar. However, he is also wanted by Saudi Pro League Al-Hilal.

The Saudi side have been pushing to sign him the ‘amazing‘ 47-year-old but there has now been a development involving the Portuguese coach.

Tottenham target Marco Silva turns down offer from Al-Hilal

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Marco Silva has turned down Al Hilal’s offer, despite the Saudi club agreeing terms with his representatives.

While the lucrative proposal was tempting, Silva has made it clear that he is not ready to walk away from European football at this stage of his career.

Fulham, who remain hopeful of tying Silva down to a new contract, now have a small window of opportunity to secure his future before rival clubs make their move.

TBR Football understands that Silva does have a release clause in his contract and that he is on Tottenham’s list of managerial candidates should Ange Postecoglou depart the club this summer.

However, there is interest in him from other clubs in Europe as well, including Bayer Leverkusen who just lost Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

Will Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou if they win the Europa League

While Tottenham’s domestic campaign has been nothing short of disastrous, Ange Postecoglou still has a chance to salvage the season with a Europa League triumph.

Victory would end a 17-year trophy drought, with their last major silverware coming in 2008 and their first European title since 1984.

But would European glory be enough to save his job after such a dismal domestic run?

Ange’s comments after Spurs’ defeat to Palace have raised eyebrows, with many questioning whether he has the mentality to lead a top club.

“Yeah, look and I get it and people are banging the drum about this record with defeats, but if people don’t see there is a correlation between the two, I am not going to sit here and, it’s not exactly Pythagoras’ theorem.

Postecoglou has even clashed with Tottenham supporters this season following defeats, showing a growing disconnect with the fans.

Given all of the above, it remains increasingly unlikely that the Australian will still be in charge at Tottenham beyond this season.
