Jeremie Frimpong is set to become Liverpool’s first summer signing and now the Dutch defender needs to advise his new manager who should be the next player to follow him through the door.
Frimpong is close to joining Liverpool in a deal worth around £30 million from Bayer Leverkusen as the Reds look to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Mersyside club have already started work on the next few deals with Rodryo Goes being linked to Liverpool along with Frimpong’s Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.
However, both of those players would cost close to £100 million and Frimpong should be urging the Reds to look at another player who could have just as big an impact.
Jeremie Frimpong should tell Liverpool to sign Xavi Simons
Jeremie Frimpong should be urging Liverpool and Arne Slot to sign his Dutch compatriot Xavi Simons as they look to sign a new attacking midfielder.
Simons has decided to leave RB Leipzig this summer and the Reds should be all over a deal to bring the Dutch international to Anfield.
Liverpool have scouted Simons this season and now after a successful campaign with Leipzig Slot’s team should be eyeing up a deal for the 21-year-old.
The youngster has another excellent season in Germany having scored ten goals and recorded ten assists in all competitions.
How much would Xavi Simons cost Liverpool or Arsenal?
Arsenal have also been linked with Simons and the former Paris Saint-Germain player could be the perfect alternative to their captain Martin Odegaard.
TBR Football revealed last month that Leipzig value Simons at £50 million and work has already started on getting him a move away from the German club.
For £50 million, to sign a player of the calibre of Simons, who is still very young and has great room for improvement, this feels like it could be one of the deals of the summer.
