Liverpool have a busy summer on the transfer front as Arne Slot and Richard Hughes look to strengthen the squad.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Liverpool’s “huge summer” would also see them move for a new striker.
“Further up the pitch, the Reds will be looking for a new striker, and then a creative player – maybe a LW and CAM,” said Bailey. “A new No. 9 is one of their priorities.”
Now, a report from France has emerged claiming Liverpool have begun talks over a £52million striker who Ibrahima Konate previously described as “the best”.

Liverpool begin talks over Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku
Liverpool have opened talks over Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to Footmercato.
The report claims the Reds have placed Nkunku on their shortlist and ‘talks have begun’ regarding a move for the Frenchman.
Liverpool are said to be in pursuit of attacking reinforcements and continue to value versatile players, hence their interest in Nkunku.
However, Liverpool aren’t alone in their pursuit of Nkunku, who is deemed likely to leave Chelsea this summer after struggling to break into the starting XI.
Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on Nkunku and are said to have been informed of the conditions of the deal to sign him.
What Ibrahima Konate has said about Christopher Nkunku
Konate and Nkunku are teammates at international level and both also shared the pitch at RB Leipzig.
Back in 2022, Konate sang Nkunku’s praises while on international duty with Les Bleus.
“No need to describe Nkunku, he is the best player in the Bundesliga this season,” said Konate, via TEAMtalk. “He wins a lot, he is good technically.
“I am close to him, to [Matteo] Guendouzi or to [Moussa] Diaby and [Boubacar] Kamara at the Blues. In real life I am close from everyone.”
Meanwhile, Wesley Fofana previously said about Nkunku: “I have rarely seen someone finish so well in front of goal.”
Nkunku was a star for RB Leipzig in Germany, registering 70 goals and 54 assists from 172 appearances.
His efforts led to him winning the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season award in 2021/22.
Konate and Nkunku have shared a pitch 35 times for club and country – and there’s a chance they could be reunited at club level once again.
